what have you guys been up to?

it's been 8 weeks into this fwoc thing. and boy how fast time flies.
tmr will be the senior's camp, where we'll test out the major games for 2 days.
and probably get rained down with precious questions and criticisms by the seniors, all in the effort to make fwoc better.
and then it's medicamp.
and then i think i'll just lie immobile on my bed until reality hits again and i've to go abt the big fwoc which is in 2 weeks' time.
and then school will start.
no breaks.

i hope you guys are doing fine.

k for those who don't already know, i'm going to be involved in hall orientation as an ogl/facilitator/com member..which means hols will be busy. but anyways, that's not what i wanna complain about. besides the actual orientation, there's going to be a precamp where potential hallers will come and take part in the camp for 2 days. so anyways, the thing is, in my group, i'm the ogl (the leader kinda thing) and my aogl (assistant) is this guy who liked me last time and things are kinda complicated now (lazy to explain) so it's going to be awkward! argh. and another of my member is quite notorious as i've heard from another friend of mine. crap!

first meal in hk. the serving was huge. we later then realised not all servings are this huge.hehe.

i always think that when u get high one day, you're bound to feel low the next and yday was a high day for me. like, i woke up for breakfast (only the 2nd time since my study break) and went to the library to study from 10-1pm, had lunch, then studied again from 3-6pm, had dinner, then slacked abit, went JOGGING myself at 10pm. it's like WHOA. and today i woke up at 11am and slacked the whole day. maybe it's a reward for working so hard yday. haha but argh exams are like in 2 weeks.

jocelyn has become more emo. how!!!! plus just now qing showed me those arty pieces..so emo lah. whoa okok i must get out of this emo mood. let's get high again.

An interesting reflection: Slow Down Culture

hey girls..came across thus in an email my bro sent to me..thought that it's meaningful so take ur time to read!

It's been 18 years since I joined Volvo, a Swedish company. Working for them has proven to be an interesting experience. Any project here takes 2 years to be finalized, even if the idea is simple and brilliant. It's a rule.

Globalize processes have caused in us (all over the world) a general sense of searching for immediate results. Therefore, we have come to posses a need to see immediate results. This contrasts greatly with the slow movements of the Swedish. They, on the other hand, debate, debate, debate, hold x quantity of meetings and work with a slowdown scheme. At the end, this always yields better results.

Said in another words:
1. Sweden is about the size of San Pablo, a state in Brazil.
2. Sweden has 2 million inhabitants.
3. Stockholm, has 500,000 people.
4. Volvo, Escania, Ericsson, Electrolux, Nokia are some of its renowned companies. Volvo supplies the NASA.

The first time I was in Sweden, one of my colleagues picked me up at the hotel every morning. It was September, bit cold and snowy. We would arrive early at the company and he would park far away from the entrance (2000 employees drive their car to work). The first day, I didn't say anything, either the second or third. One morning I asked, "Do you have a fixed parking space? I've noticed we park far from the entrance even when there are no other cars in the lot." To which he replied, "Since we're here early we'll have time to walk, and whoever gets in late will be late and need a place closer to the door. Don't you think? Imagine my face.

Nowadays, there's a movement in Europe name Slow Food. This movement establishes that people should eat and drink slowly, with enough time to taste their food, spend time with the family, friends, without rushing. Slow Food is against its counterpart: the spirit of Fast Food and what it stands for as a lifestyle. Slow Food is the basis for a bigger movement called Slow Europe, as mentioned by Business Week.

Basically, the movement questions the sense of "hurry" and "craziness" generated by globalization, fueled by the desire of "having in quantity" (life status) versus "having with quality", "life quality" or the "quality of being". French people, even though they work 35 hours per week, are more productive than Americans or British. Germans have established 28.8 hour workweeks and have seen their productivity been driven up by 20%. This slow attitude has brought forth the US's attention, pupils of the fast and the "do it now!".

This no-rush attitude doesn't represent doing less or having a lower productivity. It means working and doing things with greater quality, productivity, perfection, with attention to detail and less stress. It means reestablishing family values, friends, free and leisure time. Taking the "now", present and concrete, versus the "global", undefined and anonymous. It means taking humans' essential values, the simplicity of living.

It stands for a less coercive work environment, more happy, lighter and more productive where humans enjoy doing what they know best how to do. It's time to stop and think on how companies need to develop serious quality with no-rush that will increase productivity and the quality of products and services, without losing the essence of spirit.

In the movie, Scent of a Woman, there's a scene where Al Pacino asks a girl to dance and she replies, "I can't, my boyfriend will be here any minute now". To which Al responds, "A life is lived in an instant". Then they dance to a tango.

Many of us live our lives running behind time, but we only reach it when we die of a heart attack or in a car accident rushing to be on time. Others are so anxious of living the future that they forget to live the present, which is the only time that truly exists. We all have equal time throughout the world. No one has more or less. The difference lies in how each one of us does with our time. We need to live each moment. As John Lennon said, "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans".

to ALL of you: happy belated valentine's day...NO dha nothing of great interst happened except that i had on HOT date with abt 15 mentally disabled ladies..somthing i forgot to tell uguys in the last entry was that since the beginning of term i have been going to a home for mentally ill women to just hang out with them, and dance and stuff, once a week..it's so much fun and when we went on v-day and threw them a party and they recognised me, even though i'd only gone 3 times before, and at the end when one of them asked me for a kiss it was really the best feeling..this v-day sure was a lot more fun than all the previous ones when i just go home and bemoan my single status(mind you, my roommate n i still bemoaned aplenty, well past midnight when we got back home)

ALSO..GONG XI FA CAI!!happy new year of the pig!!we celebrated yesterday(new yr's eve) with lotsa food n even had lor hey(i noe its called something else, but i duno how to spell) it was good fun stuffing our faces with food, n then some bailey's but then we made the not-so-wise decision to play twister.which isnt a very good idea when ure stuffed n slightly drunk..but it was so funny

and today i went to a Sikh temple for the first time in my life..cos my malaysian roommate wanted to go, but she din wanna go alone with the senior hu was showing her the place, cos she barely noes him..so, good roommate that i am, i was dragged along. but it was actually quite fun lah, though i think i stuck out like a sore thumb..cos in thebeginning u gotta like bow down to the floor in front of the holy book but i did it wrong, so then afterwards i noticed that the priest guy was staring at me throughout the whole thing, so embarassing!! but they gave us some yummy indian food, so that was cool

right..thats all i hafta say for now...exams are only 2 weeks away..HELP!!

it's great to log on and finally see something new! :)

sab: i know this is hard..but hey we still love you much much!! :)

anusha: haha alright i typed that entry when i haven't washed my hair. came back to hall the same day (i straightened it on sunday night and came back for lessons on monday) and i just couldn't stand it so i started complaining to my neighbours and all. but it's alot better now! i even coloured it the following week..which is last weekend..hahaha..some sort of reddish brown shade..mahagony or something like that. hip and happening huh?? :D and i'm happy cos alot of people complimented and said it looks really good (ego boost) hahaha so yayness!!

i should be doing tutorial now but guess what i'm doing instead. hahaha. grrr. but contrary to anusha's timetable..i think my timetable this sem is kinda slacker..altho we've more tests..including a final exam to determine whether we proceed to yr 2.

okay nothing much to update abt except i'm kinda looking forward to next week but not to turning 20. haiiiii. TWO-wenty. i wanna be 18 again i think..altho there's a levels and all. but alright..u all know i don't actually really wanna be 18 again. haha i'm just saying for kicks. and speaking of which... qing don't be so worried abt ur results and all!! haha just relax..until 5 min before receiving the result slip then start to panic. hehehe. kidding. :D

and if i sound kinda high in the entry..i really dunno how to explain why. i was really high the whole of yday..actually surviving a mentally draining tutorial for 2.5h without sleeping a wink. i'm amazed and i attribute it to the tea i had in the morning (which seemed to contain an overdose of caffeine, so scary it lasted to the night)..but with its effects spilling over to today? that's kinda freaky huh? which loser gets high on TEA anyway. hahaha.

hey girlsss!!!ok so i noe ive been bad n havent been keeping my promise to blog more often, but it's cos a. nothing very exciting has really happened, n b. there has definitely been an increase in our workload(cos for the first sem we were so blur..but now they actually expect us to know stuff abt stuff)..

first can i just say joce: when you wrote the entry abt ur flat hair, was it before or after you had washed it a few times?cos when i get mine done its always damn flat the first few days but once ive washed it a coupla times it gets better..dun worry im sure u still look as pretty as always..somebody put a picture up on the blog for me to see leh..

and so to business..
ya..the workload...in the first week back on the second day they already gave us a horrible project, which has been the bane of my existence for the last coupla weeks....and the presentation for that is in a couple of weeks!!aargh..shah le wo ba!!(kill me now!!)

also all is not well at home either..there is a little bit of strife going on in càsa anusha because one of my roommates heard another one of my roommates bitching to our OTHER roommate abt the 2 of us..so we are kinda not really talking to her nemore..it was all very drama, and i dun wanna tell the whole story to u guys over here cos its very exciting and i probably wont do it justice..so ill tell ya when i see ya..haiz..why cant we all just get along??

the only exciting thing that happened recently was Malaysia Night which happened on the Saturday past..its's kind of a huge deal to the Malaysian students(of whom there are a considerable no. in UCD) n they get dressed up n eat Malyasian food n put on a bit of a show..the Malaysian Ambassador also came..I wasnt very involved this yr(i only gave gifts to the VIPs and helped to make the bunga manga..which ia like those things that look like coconut trees made frm tinsel) cos i was very shy to volunteer myself when they went ard recruiting ppl last sem, but i think ill take part nxt yr, cos it looked like a lot of fun..of course, i din have a digicam, so i din get ne pictures, but my friend sent me some that have me inside, so i shall put them here, even tho i look like shite in all of em..actually i decided to put just one cos i look at a fatter shit in the other 2..the girl in the front is my friend mag hu's s'porean n did the hip hop finale dance.she is wearing my pants n belt as well as my pink blouse..every1 said the pants look spectacular on stage..oh, and the dance was ok too(haha, j/k)

they gave us some malaysian food including rojak that din look or taste like rojak, rendang, tasteless nasi goreng, very yummy mee goreng, prawns fried in batter(mm-mm!), sweet n sour fish n for dessert, choc cake wiv whipped cream n ice cream..delish!!yall are probably wondering why im regurgitating the whole menu to u lot, but as some1 hu's had to live on my own cooking(raw bread n cornflakes, mostly) it was paradise..n im salivating even as i type this.

the malaysian night thing also helped raise some money for a malaysian orphanage by auctioning off a gorgeous vase made by one of the orphans, but like a week before malaysia night they also had a slave auction, which i thought was a very cool way to raise money for charity..basically they get ppl to volunteer to be slaves for 4 hours, n they are auctioned off..the winner can make them do wantever u want for 4 hrs(cleaning ur house, doing ur groceries, cooking, one girl offered to be your shopping buddy)..so i pooled with some other ppl n bought a couple of my friends n yesterday they fulfilled their duty by cooking a sumptuous feast of roast chicken n chicken curry n rice n veg n sushi(!!!!!!) with bread pudding n custard for dessert..was really a lotta fun talkingn reliving malaysia night, cos one of the 'masters' hu bought the slaves with me was the president of the malaysian students association, so he was telling us all sorts of stories abt how his face was so pain frm fake-smiling the whole night..and then finally we went home to our own houses ard 11.45

on sunday after malaysia night i woke up with the intention to start work on my project but ended up watching my roommate's(the one i'm not pissed at) pirates 2 dvd, for all the extra features..it was very cool cos they had some bloopers n tho most of them were not johnny depp's ones(prob cos he never makes ne mistakes) they had a few of him, n even when he made a mistake he kept in jack sparrow character n the voice n everythin..after i was done with that, i watched bloopers from my friends dvd collection(which i brought here after christmas break as well)so by the time all that shit was finished i was too tired n hungry n sleepy to do project work, so i put it offn had to hurry to do my part on monday to show my grp on tues..thought my eyeballs were gonna drop outta my head when i was reading medical paper after medical paper..researching really sucks lah!

ok lah..i think thats all i hafta say for now..hope to talk to u guys soon..LOVE LOVE LOVE the animation of us!!i was laughing aloud to myself in the computer lab!!

GRRRR. i'm really unhappy at the state of my hair right now.

see, i wanted to go get a haircut before chinese new yr. so i went with my brother and he suggested i get my hair rebonded. the hairdresser lady heard and agreed (duh. who'd say no to $$). but i said i'd rather highlight my hair instead if my bro is willing to sponsor me. and then after alot of discussion he said he'll sponsor my rebonding and his gf will sponsor the highlight. so yay.

rebonded hair is good in the sense that it's neater and well, all my life people have commented i've big hair. but one thing i absolutely hate abt rebonded hair is this. I HATE FLAT HAIR. i detest the kinda hair that has no bounce..and look utterly fake, like u're wearing a wig or something..especially the kind that STICKS to the contours of your head and face and neck..(anusha: i'm not referring to u in any way..u look great with rebonded hair..)

so i kept stressing to the lady that I DON"T WANT this kind of flat hair..and want to have it more natural. straight, but not flat, right?

and after spending bloody 4.5 hours in the salon..my hair became so flat, i'm sad. (hurhur rhymes!) sigh sigh sigh...and i felt so bad cos i went home and my brother and his gf (they went home first) asked me if i liked it and i complained it was too flat and kinda showed my temper abit.

hai..so..flat hair now. :(

booohooohooo..anyways, i've got trainings for hall every day of the week!! HAPPY FRIDAY THE 13TH!!

heya babes..how's life??..ok so i was waiting to accumulate some interesting events in my life here before i wrote, so here goes..
so last saturday i went on a trip to a farm in meath(its like a county just next to county dublin, abt 1.5hrs drive) It was organised by the international students' society here n basically was abt being irish for a day, so we did loadsa really traditional Irish activities. First up, we baked Irish soda bread..which kinda looks like banana bread, but tastes like brown bread, jus thicker n grainier. so newaez the ppl teaching us were the grandmama of the farm family n another younger girl who was like one of our main hosts of the day..one of the ingredients in soda bread is an egg, n instead of handing it to us, like normal ppl, the girl decided it might be fun to toss us our eggs..so u can guess wat happened..EVERYBODY else mangaed to catch their eggs fine, n despite my begging her not to, the girl threw it at me and it hit the back of my head, before landing on the floor..it mustve cracked a little bit on my head cos i got a bit of egg white on my head..nothing(thankfully) landed on my shirt which was brand new..still it was very embarassing, but also very funny..i just burst out laughing as i typed it out, which was not cool cos im in a com. lab surrounded by strangers.
after we put our bread to bake, they took us to learn this irish folk dance, in which basically u line up in rows of four facing each other n do this little hop thing(it kinda looks like a riverdance move when the farm ppl did it, but we of course looked like asswipes)..it was really fun cos u move forward towards ur partner, then back, then sideways n then u SWING!that's when u grab ur partner's waist with one hand n their hand with the other n bounce ard in a circle..then later both rows intercross under the other rows arms until ure facing a whole new row of partners to do the whole thing again..its really tiring cos u are basically hopping thru the whole dance, which goes on quite long, cos u move all the way across the room bit by bit..but the swinging was frankly quite scary, esp when i did it wit this one guy who spun me so violently i thought i was gonna fly out of the window..i nearly fell down when he spun me(incidentally some other ppl actually did fall down!)
once we were all danced out, we went to see the animals..the farmer showed us his massive pigs, n challenged the international student society chairman(very funny, kinda cute italiano..he says singapore as SINGAPORE-RAY..all together now,with the italian hand action..SINGAPORE-RAY!!) to RIDE the pig!of course the pig wasnt too happy abt it, but he managed to actually straddle it for a few seconds before the pig decided to barge right thru the whole grp of us, i only jus got out of the way..also he asked if there were ne french ppl, n then challenged the french guy to go into the chicken coop n catch a rooster, which the french guy managed as well..then we walked into the fields where we tried to round up sheep, youre supposed to form a solid line to contain ém(the only problem is the sheep didnt seem to wanna be contained, they kept walking thru us n we kept letting them walk thru us for fear of being rammed)also we went to see the cows, though i spent most of the time looking at the ground cos the cows leave puddles of soupy-lookin shit(i jus put u off soup, din I?)..then we learned how to play hurling(irish sport with hockey-type stick n very hard ball)it was so hard i couldnt even get the ball off the ground, plus we were divided into grps of 6 to share 1 ball, n my grp had this very annoying german girl, hu kept calling for the ball in a very pissed-off way..
we went back to the farmhouse to have lunch n eat our soda bread with soup(very yummy!) n when my friend was like taking pictures of all the food on the table, that same german girl was like "y r u taking pictures of zat?"..n my fren said ÿ not?".n she was like"but y?i would never look at zem again", in this snooty voice..like wat the hell, right?its my friend's business wat she wants to take pictures of, innit?
then we learned to dance a diff dance, for which we needed to stand in a circle and partner huever was next to us..i jus happened to be next to the italiano when we formed our circlen he was jus gonna grab my hand when ANOTHER german girl butted in n grabbed his hand..she's one of those loud AA types n i think she likes the italiano, but i think he's a lil afraid of her..haha..im not bitter cos the italiano is too old,27 tho he doesnt look it,but he seems really funny so its a pity i din get to talk to him properly..after that, i milked a cow a lil bit, n they had a sharing session where everyone puts up a little piece to do with their native culture..there were only 3 s'poreans so we joined with the huge grp of malaysians n sang rasa sayang(there were only 2 italians, so they re-enacted zidane's head-butt @ the world cup finals, italiano said it was "an important moment in italian history"HAHA)btw,there had been 2 teenage kids, a boy n a girl hu had played accordions while we were dancing,the guy sang this song in irish that was sooo beautiful, like even tho u can't understand, it sounded a bit like the hebrew songs in prince of egypt n stuff..like very hauntingly beautiful..yea then we went home
wednesday past was our med day, which is basically when the whole medical cohort has like this flag day in town, n to help us raise more money, a bunch of the guys, dress up as women n dance with these pathetic little pom-poms, they rehearse for it n everything!..of course they get free beer all day(this IS ireland, ya noe?)..its very funny, so we followed them ard town asking for donations in their wake..over here ppl collect donations by jus yelling out the name of their cause in the hopes that ppl will donate, not like back home where u have to practically force ppl to donate.perhaps that's y when i started goin up to individual ppl n asking them a lotta them jus pretended i din exist(so hurtful, cos i was all bright n cheery, n then i get dao-ed)so in the end i jus walked around yelling ïrish cancer society!"after the flag day was over we went back to the medicine campus in town to have like an impromptu party, which i had to leave early, cos i had a clinical science seminar..that's basically when we meet up with an irish gp hu assigns us some of his patients, so that we can go to their house n interview them abt their illness(its all part of this early patient contact course that we take as part of the curriculum)..so i hafta go to my patient's house this wednesday, im a lil nervous cos im really shy..i guess i need to think of some questions beforehand..im goin wiv another irish girl, so it wont be too bad, i hope.k thats all i hafta say for now, i think..

haha..oh no..ok i hope nobody else reads our blog...how're all my babes in s'pore??qing..i noe ure prob having a pretty shit time right now but dun worry..cos it WILL be over(i wonder how many billion times you've heard this)..hang in there, k?u'll have months n months to play n grow stupid before u go to uni n hafta do it all over again:)..sab, dha, joce hope uni is treating u right..i think its the same all ard tho..the stress n shit..i had to hand in my first assignment that will be assessed today..it was in my opinion completely pointless..we had to write a review(u noe like they publish in science journals) pretending we are professors of cell biology who are looking at the organelles in a cell for the FIRST time using a electron microscope..which was very confusing to me because how do i refer to mitochondria, lysosomes, etc. if its the first time ive ever seen them, i mean like we wouldnt have come up with the names for those things yet, right??..n i spent the whole weekend doing it n trying to print it..n draw stupid drawings of mitochondria(another pointless enterprise since if i WAS a professor of cell bio i wouldve just snapped a photograph of wat i saw..why do we need to know such obsolete skills??)..so newae its done?(phew!)
i also got a scare today cos i thought i left my phone in the dissection room n hunted everywhere before going home n finding it on my bed..ok, so i tried joce's thing..it looked so interesting..here goes:

guess what i went to mambo for the 1st time last night! (dha..mambo!) and it was so fun!! it's totally the kinda place we could try going (if all circumstances allow) cos u just go there and start singing all the funny 80's songs and dancing to it! hahaha..there was even bsb's larger than life!! i can imagine all of us singing to the lyrics of the songs and going crazy. hehehe. but it was damn crowded lah. it was like a mosh pit and people were like pressed together and it was kinda hot because of that.

heyhey! haha anusha ur dad was very funny lah!! i'm not sure if he was funny because he was really funny, or i just want to laugh when i see him. i mean, NOT in a bad way...but i just remembered how funny he was during the attachment. anyways, he gave us a summary lecture on upper limbs which we learnt for anatomy. i think the way he talks is very funny!! haha and he was speaking in a relatively fast pace. he started by standing somewhere in the middle of the aisle and shot questions at the person sitting beside him. hahaha and then he'll go to another topic or question and say "next" (as in the next person's supposed to answer), then "next!", "next!" and so on. hahaha. i just can't help laughing. i think that was a major factor that kept me awake during the lecture (since i had only 2.5 hr sleep the day before). there was this instance when he said this guy will not be allowed to enter the clinic for his attachment cos he was inappropriately dressed (he was in t-shirt. during attachment to hospitals u gotta wear formal/office wear). then he looked around and realised every other person was in t-shirt. hahaha i think he forgot he was teaching year1s who don't have dress code yet.
oh, and for medical students here we don't have other non-med modules. so yeah we don't get a chance to study things like anthropology and whatnot. and we don't get to dissect bodies..cos apparently they changed the system (cos doctors learn to heal, not dissect bodies, unless u're a pathologist) such that the bodies are already dissected to the muscle layer and we just observe from there. but unlike in ireland, i think there's hardly anybody who would willingly donate their bodies to science when they die..so most of the bodies are actually unclaimed. which i think was pretty sad..cos it's bad enough that u have no kin to collect your body and prepare a funeral and all..and now u have first year medical students who are still so unprofessional, probing at ur muscles and bones and pulling on ur nerves and tendons. we did say some oath thing to honour the cadavers as once living people..but i think people sometimes forget. and yes! the chemicals can get so strong that they sting my eyes!! and have very strong odour too. my neighbour's afraid of the labcoat which i wear during anat pracs. and she refuses to even wash her socks together with the labcoat. haha she's super funny lah!!

anyways, abt the block comm..the elections were held yesterday and oh well, i didn't get elected. i think i did alright..and i'm glad i got the support of alot of friends in the block. but nevertheless i was disappointed cos when i finally put my heart into running for the comm and being serious abt it, i just didn't get elected and that definitely didn't make me feel good. but i figured, after feeling a lil crappy for some time, that maybe it's a blessing in disguise..cos now i probably can focus more on other stuff..and i can have a shot at being an ogl for med or kr next yr! haha..i'm just trying to make uni life more colourful now cos i was talking to a year2medstudent and we decided that the 1st 2 yrs in med is when we have the most time to do whatever we want to do, before we start going for attachments and drown ourselves in hospital work when we graduate. :)

get back to pass it to me..all i have is a regular camera which i doubt i will really bring newhere..hence i wont really have a lotta pics in dec for yall, but ill definitely bring a digicam here when i come back in january..to joce,is he really??wow..i wish u could video-tape that lecture for me to see, cos im always really curious to see how my dad is with students n stuff, like if he's very strict or fierce or boring or if he's the same crazy ol'bald guy i noe n love..i wanna hear how it went, yea?..ok, so im almost done wiv the second week of school..lessons are ok, but it seems to me that the lecturers barely brush the surface of the subject, like i leave the lecture thinking i kinda understood everything, n then when i go home n crack the textbooks, i find there r like a bajillion other things that i dun remember ever hearing in my life, let alone in the lecture..which is pretty freaky..thers jus so much to know, n i dun seem to be able to retain it very well..this week was freshers' week, which is when all the ccas have booths n try to get u to join(n pay the membership fee,of course)..ive joined the international students'society(they go on trips ard ireland),the overseas volunteers society(self-explanatory) n the film society(they screen movies for free, n, as none of the movies r johnny depp ones, i think they need an education on johnny depp, which i will be happy to provide,haha)..incidentally there is a game soc, for ppl into videogames n they put up a pirates poster wiv johnny's face at their booth(prob cos they have the potc2 videogame)..of course when i saw it i almost went into convulsions thinkin it was a johnnydepp soc,but obvioulsy not(mebbe i should start one..hmm)..speaking of posters, they also had a poster sale, n i got two johnnies(edward scissorhands n fear n loathing in las vegas), and a new rhcp..all for 15 quid!!i was so excited..they also had a big one of willy wonka johnny's face n a very cool jack-sparrow-acting-cool-wiv-his-big-sword one n a nightmare before christmas one that i was tempted to get but restrained myself..i was also hoping to join girls'soccer or somethin here, but that idea went to shit cos the girls' soccer here is very pro..n the guy at the "boxing" booth looked so scary i din dare ask him if gurls could join..ah well..mebbe ill go running(yea right!!)..oh!i dunno if u guys do electives but over here we have to do 1 elective each semester..it can be from ne faculty..so im doing forensic anthropology this term n macroecons next term..forensic anthropology sounded really intersting but when we started the actual lectures this week we got 2 ridiculously boring lectures abt stuff im never likely to give a shit abt in this lifetime..but then we went to learn how to identify diff kindsa bones n stuff, frm 5th yr med ppl hu've done degrees in this stuff, n that was very interesting..so yea..another thing i dun think they have in s'pore is dissection..i had my first one today..the entire cohort is spilt into grps of 10, n every three weeks we get to go n dissect cadavers(is that how u spell??) of ppl hu've donated their bodies to science..so we checked out the trapezius n latissimus dorsi muscles on our guy(hu's an elderly gentleman)..joce will noe wat im talkin abt..again, we were helped by 5th yr med ppl, n out guy was pretty nice n encouraging..but there was this other american guy hu was the loudest most arrogant obnoxious jackass..i was so relieved i din get him..towards the end of the lesson he was walkin ard the tables trying to sound smart n cool..the dissection wasnt as bad as my friends who went for the first session last week said it would be, the formaldehyde(chemical used to preserve the body) wasnt too strong on my cadaver,it apparently makes ppl faint n tear n stuff..also since we were working on the back today, i din have to see the guy's face on the first day, which i suppose would have freaked me out..we will apparently be using the same body throughout the year..something that really impressed me was that the lecturers n demonstrators really drilled it into us that we had to give the cadavers dignity n respect, n they are having a memorial in feb for all these ppl hu donated their bodies..we'll get to meet with their families n thank them, n they get to see how valuable a contribution their loved one has made..it cant be easy for them having to delay the funeral for so long(my guy died in 2005 n he'll only be buried next yr,once we're done)..so i thought it was really cool that the university does this memorial thing..k i think thats all i have to say for now..love u all..is there ne way yall can put up ne pics online, esp if yall take new ones..i dun wanna forget wat yall look like..haha

anusha!!! how's things? too busy to update? hehehe..anyways i was just looking at my timetable and i saw the lecturer's name - prem kumar, v. ur dad's gonna give the year one med students a lecture on anatomy of limbs! hahaha.. just found it pretty exciting..hehe.

and i'm gonna run for block committee for my block in hall! gonna give a 1-2 min speech tmr in front of the block and they're gonna vote. it's abt 9 candidates for 3 places. have alot alot of thots abt it but i'm lazy to spell them out here...basically i think i desperately need a boost of confidence. i spent alot of time thinking abt this..whether i should run for the committee because it's quite a heavy commitment. i realised i'm really the sort of person who needs assurance and people to tell me things like "yes u're capable". which made me wonder.. do i really have such low self-esteem/self-worth? (whichever's the correct word.) if so, i must do something about this! i can't let other people's judgement affect my decisions so greatly! oh terror!

man you guys blog fast!! sorry i have been MIA forso long.THIS BLOG IS REALLY WORKING>>Anw let me complain..SMU sucks man..like big time.like a gazilions times more than any other thing i know of..the people who said that JC really is the last leg and the most shiong and stuff ought to be shot in the head man...you know i have been doing way more projects in the last 3weeks than i think i ever might have done inthe last 2 yrs..and for everyone out there who actually thinks smu is slack and happening..i need to set things straight with them man..SMU is so not slack..you know its like all the guys are trying to seriously make up for lost time or smthg..so they like pia evthg everytime..its freaky...the other day after class we were gonna go have lunch cuz we were gonna have lessons in abt 2 hrs..and they were like eh after lunch we go lib and do AS homework..AS is analytical skills which is like half a mod..but it really is like a full mod cuz got alot of hw and a real pain in the AS(S)..true to its name..i think there was this point in time i was stressed that i wasnt feeling stressed enuff to pia like the rest..and there were so many things happening at teh same time ..school was like a big chaos..haha i think i just effectively gave the impression that i am so pissed off with school life..the only things keeping me sane now are like my friends and the ccas and non academic activities..which i think is actually a sad thing..
anyhow..back to happy stuff..anusha i actually thought my drawings were kinda gross..it was quite difficult to squeeze the paint out evenly and smoothly..but i am glad you like it..like jocelyn said..remember to take good care of it okay!!everytime you sleep on it..think of us!:) Ireland sure does sound very fun..i am jealous being stuck in a rut of a school here..and why are people there so nice???????? seriously man..people here can be nice..but defintely not every single one you come across..which reminds me..that day on the bus it was getting crowded..and then this uncle came onto the bus..an ah pek actually..thenafter a while he had to get off and since it was crowded there were people standing up..he kinda had to jostle his way thru..then there was this guy with some laptop bag..anw yeah then the uncle tried squeezing thru..but he could not..so try two..he tried squeezing thru again..but could not..try three..and still unsuccessful..so he got pissed and instead of telling the guy to move aside more or smthg..scolded him in chinese vulgarities..like wth??how rude of the ah pek..and it was like after work peak hour..can you imagined being scolded for having a big bag just after a shitty day at work..its surprising the guy didnt retaliate..hmmm..oh yaeh btw..i FINALLY GOT MY LAPPPPP!! haha damn slow i know but i am damn excited..its a tablet and i have yet to explore all the funcions man..not even done transferring all my data and pics! which reminds me..qing sab and joce..next time i come online..can you guys send me all the pics of us you have?cuz i realised i never really got a full set of the pics since i usually never took the pictures..thanks!and anusha take more pictures..of all the hot hunks there so at least we have some human speciesthat are more than halfway decent to look at.spore guys are sad...man i took so long to upload it sab uploaded an entry on how we never say anthg abt her jamaican joke! to be frank it took me 5 whole seconds or so before i realised..when i said it out..

oh my gosh gosh gosh!!! i wanna go to ireland now!!!

hahaha! ireland sounds 2000x cooler than the place we call home. and it sounds like you're having such a fantastic time there! and argh...please take pictures with them and show us. i guess it's comforting enough to know there are such great looking pple who are 20 times friendlier than s'poreans and 100x better looking 182731963781263 miles away! or better yet invite some of them back home I CAN BE YOUR CO-TOUR GUIDE! hahaha. shit i sound so desperate. ): hah!

oh guess what i twisted my ankle that day while playing netball in hall in this inter-block game competition thing. it was really quite weird when i twisted it cos i wasn't sure if it was really injured tho it felt a little awkward and i was laughing when i got off the court and my friends were totally bewildered. anyways i was actually really sad cos i had to leave like 5 min into the game and my team was on fire! and we ended drawing with the opponent team and losing the next match. ): i really thot we could win! anyways i've got really friendly blockmates who tended to me with tender loving care. hahaha. there were like pple offerring to help me ice my ankle, acting as a support for me to lean back on in that awkward position, bringing me ice water and coming around telling me silly stuff to cheer me up. haha. i felt like a princess! it's fantastic cos it's like family. anyways, i visited the doctore on campus and apparently it's a torn ligament. i think dha might know. but anyways it's totally fine now as in a can walk very normally so i guess it's not that serious after all. :)

HEY GIRLSS!!!!!!!!!SALUTATIONS FROM EIRE!!!..so i moved into my apartment on the 5th..until then me n my parents explored the city, went on a tour..today, the 7th was the first official day of orientation for the medicine ppl..but first things first..my house..its quite nice, im sharing it with two other girls at the moment, there's supposed to be one more girl who hasnt moved in yet..one of my roomies is an indian girl from penang medical college n the other is scottish,doing law...both are first years and very sweet...unfortunately we also have another very unwelcome roommate,a little kitchen mouse i named dennis o' reilly(its the first irish-sounding name i could think of, incidentally the same as my tour guide when i went on a tour wiv my parents)..yea this really sucks cos we're all kinda scard to go into the kitchen/living room area cos of him..n yesterday my roommates found rat pee n shit in the kitchen which stank it up..so dennis is really not very cool..currently jim the maintenance guy put this little box-like trap to catch him..but laura(the scottish chick) reckons we ought to get the exterminators in(n i agree!)..moving on to today's orientation session, i went down to the first orientation meeting wiv magdalene(this girl i knew frm s'pore) where we were split into random groups of nine first yr med ppl with 3 orientation leaders hu are seniors,either two or three yrs above us..so basically we spent the time talkin n getting to noe each other n asking the seniors random questions abt our lessons,college life, yadayada..one of the girls in my group is this very cool irish girl called jenn who spent like abt a year in india doing volunteer work n learning yoga..she worked in tamil nadu, which is in the south, n nepal..n believe it or not, she actually knew some tamil..which totally blew my mind..very very impressive!!also in my group there were some mature students(23-ish) from canada who've done like some science-based degree there n came here to do medicine..n one of them was one of those ppl who's so gorgeous that looking at them was like looking at the sun..it was so hard to keep eye contact with him..haha...i find that the ppl in ucd are very good-looking in general..both the guys n girls..the standard of guys here is a bajillion times better than back home i think..so i feel damn unglam..ah well i suppose its the same in smu, yea?..after that there was an address by the president(like the dean) n some other bigshots n we were done for the day..there r a lotta ppl from malaysia here esp from penang medical college, which has its own student organisation..n the seniors from there r VERY helpful to the juniors..like the pick them up from the airport, bring them to the school, help them do all the admin stuff, take them to buy groceries, HELP THEM TO CARRY THE GROCERIES BACK TO SCHOOL, the list goes on..the president is this very friendly indian guy hu came into my house to drop off my roommate when i was there wiv my parents, n within seconds of meeting them was already on "uncle-aunty" terms wiv them..very funny..he also invited me to join the penang ppl to explore town n stuff on sunday..the weather in ireland is still pretty ok..i only need to wear my big blk jacket for now..tho i can feel it getting colder esp today..the ppl are in general very friendly n cheerful wiv good senses of humour(which is something i dig)..also incredibly helpful..like on the day i mov ed into my apartment there was somethig wrong wiv the lock on the apartment door, so my parents n i got locked in the aprtment n couldnt get out..so i tried to use my handphone wiv the new irish sim card to call the reception to send someone up to save us..but i accidentally called some guy's handphone..so obviously i apologised n hung up..then the next day he called me back to ask me if i managed to get the right number..i was like so surprised, i dunno if there are ne other countries where ppl give a shit abt complete strangers like they do here..yup i think thats all the intersting stuff i have to say for now..hopw i havent spoiled ur eyeballs or bored you stupid..love u all and next time u meet up give each other a hug frm me!!haha.. anu
P.S. RIP Steve Irwin..a man who grabbed life by the balls n one of the most memorable personalities on television..your tireless efforts to teach the world about grappling humungous maneating reptiles will forever be remebered n sorely missed.

HEY!!HOW is everybody doing??First and foremost thank you guys for the box of stuff..It was very sweet n I really appreciate it..dha nice work on the drawings:) So this is day 3 of my life in Ireland..I jus bought the internet modem thing that I need to get internet..n amazingly i actually managed to make it work..IT'S A MIRACLE!! Also this is my first entry in like a bajillion years..Jus so yall noe, Ireland is 7yrs BEHIND Singapore(i jus spoke to qing and apparently its midnight where yall r at..its 5.13pm as im writing this..)ok..so i took a qantas flight to londonwhich was like 12 hours n agonising cos my couldnt sleep properly on the stupid chair..kept tossing n turning..n my butt fell asleep..so once that was over we had to take another flight from Heathrow airport to Dublin airport which was only like an hour..security was really tight in the airports they checked our shoes for bombs, n the singapore airport ppl put my bag thru the machine like three times cos of a staplet n hole puncher..oh n they also took my scissors that i accidentally left in my pencil box:( it was really embarrassing to have to dig thru all my crap in front of the whole world..so on day 1 we went to the school to set up my bank accountn stuff..wow financial stuff is confusing..then i went to get my blood tested for exposure to hep a and b..but the nurse couldnt find my veins so she poked me twice(ouch!!)..ya then we got take away to eat in our room..which wasnt too bad cos the irish tv show loads of friends n simpsons n malcolm in the middle like back 2 back everyday..pity i wont have a tv once i live in my own house..i cant move in till the 5th cos there r other ppl renting the house for the summer n they havent moved out yet..which is annoying cos i really wanna get my stuff unpacked..n thats wat's gonna take the longest time..now that ive got my internet settled..my bank account done..my phone fixed up(my tel. no. is +353 085 7811757..but yall gotta press 001 first or somethin cos thats wat my bro did to call me)..my address is: Merville Student Residences M9.5.3, UCD, Belfield, Dublin 4, Ireland..ok I think thats all I have to say for now..íll keep yall posted as soon as something exciting happens..love you all and miss you loads..muack muack muack

haha i think this sounds damn bimbo coming from me...but our blog is really very pretty!! i just popped by to say hi..oh and btw..you know my prof sent me an email abt my groups and the stuff i need to do for the first lesson..not forgetting the part abt bringing colour pencils to my creative thinking class..i get the feeling that i am gonna be drawing and colouring a whole loton the first day..sounds fun but it also feels like i am going back to kindergarten just that this time i am being graded...haha.. i only know one person in my class..and as expected she is not in my project gruoup....YES!i have my project group already!!! HELLO DARLINGS!!!!!

yes i've finally gotten a lan cable so i can use the net from my room!!! i'm in location c block level 3 room 15 right now. hehehe. using my new laptop - fujitsu s7110. oooh..nice. i like my laptop. yay! but only bad thing is that the cover is black..and it leaves fingerprints very easily. :( and the other day i brought my laptop to the lobby (to use wireless) and my block mate was eating pizza over my screen and the oily stuffings dropped onto my screen!!! whoa i was so annoyed please!!!! grrr. i hope it won't leave a stain cos last i checked it was still oily. *cries*

been so busy with rag dance the past couple of weeks. so sorry for being so lethargic that night we were out. rag dance is tmr and did i mention i'm dancing to hip hop and i gotta act punk? :( but cannot make it lah...haha i'm nice and sweet..how to act punk right? HAHAHAHA. right. anyways the reason i can log in and blog today is cos training starts at 2pm today. it's supposed to let us have enough rest cos we won't be able to get much rest tonight. gotta like wake at 3/4 am to start putting on make up and body paint and prepare for d-day. i heard they are gonna draw tatoos on the punks. hahaha so exciting!! i hope i don't screw up lah seriously.. :( first time jitters. :(

yes so when can u guys come? :) hahaha..next week there'll be some events..like hall bash and all which has a madonna theme..and dnd's theme is like a virgin. HAHAHA. what lah..like that also can. so anyways, next week's tue, thu and fri shd be no prob i think. when does smu start? u guys shd come before smu starts otherwise more pple will be very busy..and it'll be hard to fix a time.
